Explore Hanoi Day Tour Traditional Craft Villages on the outskirts of Hanoi on an 8-hour tour and discover the renowned artisans of the pottery village of Bat Trang. See the But Thap pagoda temple complex, Cu Da ancient village, continue to the silk village of Van Phuc, and more.

Experience the essence of Vietnam’s rural crafts in the charming villages surrounding Hanoi. Each of these traditional villages is renowned for a unique craft, whether it’s pottery, vermicelli food making, or silk weaving.

8:00 AM: Your tour begins with a pick-up at your Hanoi hotel. Transfer to the ceramics village of Bat Trang to discover the history of its unique ceramic art, one of Vietnam’s oldest traditions. Fondly known as the “Village of Bowls,” Bat Trang is the oldest and best-known pottery village in Vietnam, making it an ideal place to find interesting souvenirs and gifts. Explore the colorful streets of Bat Trang before continuing to But Thap Temple.

Experience the tranquility of the sanctuary from the entrance gate, shaded by an old banyan tree. Explore the bell tower and back house, where you can see over 50 statues inside the temple. Marvel at the remarkable Guanyin statue, featuring 1,000 arms and 1,000 eyes, which is truly a sight to behold.

Return to Hanoi for lunch. Afterward, drive to Cu Da – Vermicelli making village. Vermicelli noodles, called mien in Vietnamese, come in white and yellow versions. They are mainly used in noodle soup and fried spring rolls. The noodles are made with arrowroot, which is ground and mixed with water to make a paste that is spread onto large bamboo trays and dried. The paste is then cut into thin strips (vermicelli) and dried again before being packaged. Although machines are now used for spreading and cutting, it remains a labor-intensive process, with half of the village’s income coming from vermicelli production.

The last visit is to the silk weaving village of Van Phuc, located on the banks of the Nhue River. Van Phuc is internationally reputed for its traditional sericulture. Here, you can learn about the intricate process of silk weaving and witness the craftsmanship that has made this village famous.
